Buttermilk Pancakes with Fresh Fruit and Sweet Amlou

In my house, we don't mess around when it comes to food. Today my dear friend Jade came over for breakfast and brought along two friends who are visiting from England. Of course I had to offer them a great American breakfast--hash browns, soyrizo with scrambled eggs, warm tortillas, fresh fruit, buttermilk pancakes, the largest pot of freshly brewed coffee ever known--and for their first time, a little taste of Morocco: Amlou. Our unique Argan Almond Butter, comprised of local California almonds and clover honey, with culinary Argan oil from Morocco. In my eyes, there are no better companions to Amlou than warm buttermilk pancakes and fresh fruit, so that's exactly what we ate.

My absolute favorite fruit to enjoy with Amlou are strawberries and bananas. (Sometimes I keep both the strawberries and the Amlou in the fridge and then later dip the cold strawberry into the Amlou for a cool treat during these hot, tail-of-summer days). 

Breakfast is always delicious with Amlou around. The crunchiness of the almonds, the sweetness of the soft honey and the natural taste of pure Argan oil, make for an almost required accessory to your morning meal. If you can resist the urge to eat an entire jar of Amlou straight with a spoon, be sure to add this nut butter to your next morning pancakes or waffles. Your breakfast experience will never be the same.
